How Long Does it Take to Get a No Fee Military Passport?
Usually, it takes up to six weeks for the identification of origin to be ready. However, in some cases, the processing can be expedited to three weeks. This relates to servicemen and their family members. If you need it faster, apply for a tourist identification of origin. It can be ready in 14-21 days, or earlier for an extra fee.
Can I Use My Military Passports to Get a Civilian Passport?
Servicemen and their families can’t use it to travel other than for official reasons. Typically this will be for servicemen and/or politicians and diplomats. If you need a document for vacationing, get a tourist visa in one of the following three ways:
- Go to the nearest Passport Application Center (PAC) with your application Dd 1056.
- Visit the nearest US Embassy or Consulate-General to apply for one. Don’t forget to schedule an appointment.
